Pure Encapsulations E.P.O. is a cold-pressed evening primrose seed oil supplement produced without the use of any solvents. The sole active ingredient is evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) oil, derived from the seed and standardized to contain 9% gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).
Evening primrose oil has been used for centuries as nutritional support for a wide range of physiological functions. Studies cited by the manufacturer indicate that E.P.O. may help support the look and feel of healthy skin, healthy lipid metabolism, and normal oxidative protection by promoting glutathione reductase and transferase activities. A clinical trial cited on the manufacturer's page reported that GLA in combination with EPA/DHA significantly promoted healthy cardiovascular function in women. Pure Encapsulations formulates this product free from wheat, soy, dairy, eggs, tree nuts and peanuts, gluten, artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners, coating and shellacs, unnecessary binders, fillers and preservatives, magnesium stearate, trans fat, and hydrogenated oils. All Pure Encapsulations ingredients, including those derived from corn, are GMO free.
