Are You Getting Enough Vitamin D?

Are You Getting Enough Vitamin D?

The days are getting shorter and that means we will see a lot less sun for a while. With reduced exposure to the sun our bodies produce less of the vital nutrient vitamin D.

Vitamin D plays a key role in regulating the absorption of calcium. That means our bones and teeth depend on vitamin D, but our bodies depend on vitamin D for other reasons as well.

Maintaining adequate levels of vitamin D may help in the prevention of disease. Low levels of vitamin D have been linked to many health issues, including hypertension, heart failure, and stroke, as well as infections and autoimmune diseases.

Vitamin D also has been linked to the regulation of mood and the reduction of depression. Research also shows a relationship between vitamin D and weight.

Thankfully, the sun isn’t the only way to get our vitamin D. We can get it through diet as well. Fish such as salmon, sardines, herring, and canned tuna are good sources of vitamin D. Cod liver oil is another good source. Eggs are also rich in vitamin D. Finally, foods like milk, cereals, yogurt, and orange juice are fortified with vitamin D.

Even with all the food options there are, we can still fall short and that’s where supplementation can help. The MHP D3 Liquid in MCT oil offers a highly absorbable option. We also carry vitamin D in capsules and gummies as well. Follow the links below to find a vitamin D option to meet your needs.
